5th United States Colored Cavalry

Caesar Newell was born in March of 1810 in Virginia. He enlisted in Company E of the 5th United States Colored Cavalry on September 9th, 1864 at Camp Nelson, Kentucky.  He was married to Emily and had three children; two girls and a boy, Caesar Jr.  Caesar, Sr. passed way on Sept 28, 1888 in Junction City, Kansas and was buried in Highland Cemetery located in Junction City.
